چکیده

In this paper we discuss the application of some recent results obtained from studying the asymptotics and the entropy of flows in large queueing systems to the analysis of entropy variations of traffic processes in ATM networks. We argue that certain important queueing nodes/networks (e.g. ·/M/1, ·/GI/∞ nodes and Jackson networks) are entropy increasing in nature, in that the entropy of the arrival process to such a node/network is strictly less than the entropy of the departure process except when the arrival process is Poisson (which has maximum entropy). The entropy increasing nature of ·/GI/∞ queues is established for a class of input processes. Based on these entropy maximization results and with the aid of some simulations, we investigate the connection between the entropy and delay of ATM traffic processes, and examine the effectiveness of entropy as a measure of “burstiness” of traffic streams in ATM virtual circuits.

Abstract Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET) is a particular type of mobile ad hoc network in which vehicles communicate between themselves using wireless antenna.  Due to unique characteristics of VANETs (e.g. high mobility of nodes and dynamic topology), routing is one of the challenging tasks in such networks. Consequently, delay tolerant networks which consider the disconnect nature of...

A Cellular Automaton Hardware Design For Generating Traffic Distributions For ATM Networks

Abstract: Broadband-Integrated Services Digital Network (B-ISDN) is capable of supporting the transmission of multimedia applications such as data, voice and images concurrently, because it uses Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) as the basis and ATM is a high-bandwidth, low-delay, connection-oriented cell switching and multiplexing technology. Traffic of different applications has different traf...

Analysis of VBR Traffic on ATM Network using Simulation Method

ATM or Asynchronous Transfer Mode is a network transfer technique that supports a large variety of applications having diverse performance requirements and service. Traffic bandwidths and traffic types are supported by it from constant, fixed rate traffic to the traffic that is highly bursty. The delay bandwidth and loss requirements of the present day real time multimedia traffics greatly diff...

A fault tolerance routing protocol considering defined reliability and energy consumption in wireless sensor networks

In wireless sensor networks, optimal consumptionof energy and having maximum life time are important factors. In this article attempt has been made to send the data packets with particular reliability from the beginning based on AODV protocol. In this way two new fields add to the routing packets and during routing and discovering of new routes, the lowest remained energy of nodes and route tra...
